Meeting
minutes, September 11, 2010
Members present:
Helene Leib, Ed Lappen, Marylou Clark, Pat Laugelle, Deborah Howard,
Theresa Polhemus, Sally Sisson, Chartis Tebbetts, Ned Tebbetts, Agnes McCann,
Donna McGee, Peter Pescatore, Gail Collins, and Kevin McCarthy
Membership:
Returning member, Lisa Hewitt Dick was nominated and voted to renewed
membership on the Committee.
Currently there are thirty members on the Committee out of a possible thirty
five. Current members are
encouraged to seek new, interested members to fill out the roster.
October fund-raiser:
Planning for the Oct. 23rd fund-raiser at the home of the
Leib-Lappen's was discussed.
Tickets will be $35.pp and $50. per couple.
Different levels of giving in order to best support Democratic candidates
were discussed and will be decided upon by the fund-raiser committee.
Silent auction—Donna McGee,
chairperson of the silent auction, is
seeking sports
tickets donations as well as donations from local
businesses,
vacation properties, hostess baskets, etc..
A planning meeting for the
fund-raiser will be held at the Leib/Lappen on Thurs. Sept 16th at 7:00
Treasurers Report:
Peter reported that he has
sent e-mails to all who owe dues.
There is $5,283. in the scholarship fund, $2,562 in the Committee’s general fund
for a total of 7,845. Chartis suggested the Committee plan for a specific dollar
amount of funds the Committee could afford to contribute to Democratic
candidates. For that purpose, Peter will look into operating expenses for the
past four years in order to propose a budget for the Committee.
A budget committee was
formed, including Donna and Agnes, with Peter acting as Chairperson.
At the Oct 2nd Town Committee meeting a budget proposal for
the future will be discussed.
Visibility-sign holding
for the November election will be organized by Gail, Judith and Ginny.
Many hands will be needed-more information to follow.
Movie Night:
The next movie will be shown on Friday, Sept. 17th at 7:00p in
the Meeting Room of the library.
The movie selection for this month is
Our Daily Bread, a rare
collection of depression era short films.
